General Motors is recalling certain 2005-2007 SAAB 9-7x vehicles and 2006-2007 Chevrolet Trailblazer, GMC Envoy, Buick Rainier, and Isuzu Ascender vehicles, as well as 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer EXT and GMC Envoy XL models. Fluid can enter the driver's door power window switch module, causing corrosion and a short circuit in the circuit board. This short may cause the power door lock and power window switches to malfunction, and could also cause overheating that melts door module components, potentially producing odor, smoke, or fire—which could occur even when the vehicle is not in use.
To address this issue, GM will notify owners and dealers will inspect and replace the door module with a new one at no charge. However, replacement parts are not currently available. An initial letter was mailed to owners in August 2014, and a second letter will be sent once parts become available. Owners should contact GM customer service at 1-800-521-7300 (Buick), 1-800-222-1020 (Chevrolet), 1-800-462-8782 (GMC), 1-800-955-9007 (SAAB), or 1-800-255-6727 (Isuzu), referencing recall number 14309. Until the remedy is completed, owners are advised to park their vehicles outside as a precaution.
