What happened

Van Hool N.V. is recalling certain 2014-2015 TX40 motorcoaches manufactured between January and June 2014, and TX45 motorcoaches manufactured between September 2013 and June 2014. The driver seat belt assembly may not be properly secured to the B-pillar anchorage, which means the driver may not be properly restrained during a crash, failing to comply with federal safety standards.

Van Hool's designated agent ABC Bus Companies will notify motorcoach owners and dealers will correct the seat belt anchorage mounting at no charge. The recall began on September 9, 2014. Affected owners should contact ABC Bus Companies customer service at 1-800-222-2875 to arrange the repair, and may reference Van Hool recall number P726.

Hazard

Van Hool N.V. (Van Hool) is recalling certain model year 2014-2015 TX40 motorcoaches manufactured January 2014 through June 2014, and TX45 motorcoaches manufactured September 2013 through June 2014. The driver seat belt assembly may not be properly secured to the B-pillar anchorage and as a result the driver may not be properly restrained in the event of a crash. As such, the vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 210, "Seat Belt Assembly Anchorages."
