What happened

PACCAR Inc. is recalling certain 2013-2014 Kenworth T680 and Peterbilt 567 and 579 vehicles manufactured between January 2012 and October 2013 that are equipped with Inteva-brand door latch assemblies. The door latch assembly in these vehicles may become permanently locked while closed, or conversely, may open from the outside even after being locked. If the door becomes permanently locked while closed, occupants could be trapped inside the vehicle during a crash or fire, increasing the risk of injury.

To remedy this issue, PACCAR will notify owners and dealers will replace both the left and right door latch assemblies with new assemblies at no cost. The recall began on March 25, 2014. Affected consumers should contact PACCAR at 1-425-468-8228 to arrange for the replacement, referencing Kenworth recall number 14KWB or Peterbilt recall number 114-A depending on their vehicle model.
