GILLIG THROTTLE PEDAL

  • Brand GILLIG

Check against the official notice below — it lists the full affected range.

What happened

Gillig LLC is recalling certain accelerator pedals sold as aftermarket parts due to a defect in the mechanical springs that return the pedal to idle. If these springs break, the pedal may remain pressed down even after the driver releases their foot, potentially causing unintended acceleration and increasing the risk of a crash. The affected pedals are identified by Gillig part numbers 51-19017-016, 51-19017-019, or 45-35027-000 (or their corresponding Williams Controls part numbers 351298 or 351571).

To address this issue, Gillig dealers will replace the affected pedals with complete new pedal assemblies at no cost to owners. Consumers who believe they have an affected pedal should contact Gillig customer service at 1-510-785-1500 for further instructions and to arrange the replacement.

Hazard

If the springs break, the pedal may not return to idle once the driver lifts their foot off the pedal. This unintended acceleration increases the risk of a crash.

What should I do?

Gillig LLC will notify owners, and dealers will replace the affected pedals with entire pedal assembly, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin in June 2014. Owners may contact Gillig customer service at 1-510-785-1500.
