Daimler Trucks North America is recalling certain 2012-2014 Freightliner Cascadia tractors equipped with SAMCAB software version 6.2 that were manufactured between April 12, 2010, and March 2, 2013. On these vehicles, when configured to use turn signals as Daytime Running Lights (DRLs) with the 'Turn-Tip' turn signal function activated, the DRLs may fail to illuminate properly after the 'Turn-Tip' function is used while driving. This failure reduces visibility to other drivers and increases crash risk.
Affected owners should contact their nearest Freightliner dealer to arrange a free SAMCAB software update that will correct the DRL operation and 'Turn Tip' feature. Owners may also contact Daimler Trucks North America directly at 1-800-547-8712 for assistance.
