Forest River is recalling certain 2013 model year class B and class C motor homes (Concord, Leprechaun, Freelander, Lexington, Forester, and Sunseeker models) built on Chevrolet Express and GMC Savana chassis. The vehicles have a defect in the ignition system that allows the key to be removed while the engine is running or the transmission is not in Park, which violates Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 114. This creates a hazard because the vehicle may roll away, potentially causing a crash or injury to pedestrians.
To remedy the issue, General Motors will notify owners and GM dealers will replace the ignition lock cylinder and two associated keys at no cost. The recall began February 28, 2013. GMC owners should call 1-866-996-9463, Chevrolet owners should call 1-800-630-2438, or owners may contact Forest River directly at 1-574-389-4600 for more information.
