Eaton Corporation is recalling certain Eaton and Fuller hybrid automated transmissions installed in medium-duty commercial vehicles manufactured between August 30, 2010, and December 16, 2013. The affected transmissions contain specific hybrid control module software versions (5500682 or 5500683) and may improperly raise engine speed during downshifts without driver input, which can cause unintended acceleration and increase crash risk.
Eaton will notify customers who are medium-duty vehicle manufacturers, and Eaton authorized service facilities will update the Hybrid Control Module Software at no charge. The recall began on January 16, 2014. Affected consumers should contact Eaton at 1-800-386-1911.
