What happened

Collins Bus Corporation is recalling certain 2012 Collins, Mid-Bus, and Corbeil model school and multi-function school activity buses manufactured between March 12, 2012, and July 3, 2012. When the Double Out Door is open, drawstrings from backpacks or articles of clothing can become entangled in a gap at the door bracket or support hardware as passengers exit the bus. If a passenger's clothing gets caught and the bus operator is unaware, the operator could move the bus and potentially pull the passenger under the wheels, resulting in serious injury or death.

Collins will notify bus owners, and dealers will repair the affected buses free of charge. According to the recall record, owners should contact Collins at 1-800-533-1850.
