2012 CHEVROLET CAPTIVA SPORT
Check against the official notice below — it lists the full affected range.
General Motors is recalling certain 2012 Chevrolet Captiva Sport vehicles manufactured between April 26, 2012, and May 17, 2012. These vehicles have a defect where the parking brake cable may not be fully seated in its connector and could separate from it. If this happens, the parking brake becomes inoperative and cannot hold the vehicle in place, which could result in unintended vehicle movement and crashes, especially on uneven surfaces.
To address this issue, GM will notify owners, and authorized dealers will inspect and secure the parking brake cables at no charge. The recall began on July 27, 2012. If you own an affected vehicle, you should contact the Chevrolet Owner Center at 1-866-694-6546.
