What happened

Genie Industries is recalling certain TZ-34 and TZ-50 trailer-mounted aerial work platform booms manufactured between January 1, 2010, and May 1, 2011, because the motor controller can fail and result in a fire. The same motor controller component was also installed as a service part replacement on TMZ 34/19 and TMZ 50 units under part number 96769 and kit 99854 between January 1, 2010, and August 7, 2011. This recall expands on a previous recall campaign.

Genie will notify owners and dealers will repair the vehicles at no cost to owners. The safety recall began on March 8, 2012. Owners of affected equipment should contact Genie's Service Department at 1-800-536-1800.

GENIE WILL NOTIFY OWNERS AND DEALERS WILL REPAIR THE VEHICLES FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL BEGAN ON MARCH 8, 2012. OWNERS MAY CONTACT GENIE'S SERVICE DEPARTMENT AT 1-800-536-1800.
