BENDIX ATR-6 TRACTION RELAY VALV
Check against the official notice below — it lists the full affected range.
Bendix Commercial Vehicle Systems is recalling certain ATR-6 Traction Relay Valves produced between December 2, 2010, and January 18, 2012. These valves were sold as aftermarket parts and installed by various vehicle manufacturers. Due to a design modification, the valves can develop internal leakage in extremely cold conditions, which may cause pressure to be delivered to the service brake circuit, resulting in intermittent or continued brake application without warning and possibly without the brake lights illuminating.
Bendix will notify owners who purchased the affected valves as aftermarket parts, and vehicle manufacturers will notify their owners. Bendix will provide a remedy free of charge. A temporary fix is available while the permanent remedy is being developed; the permanent remedy has been developed and parts will begin to be available by May 7, 2012. Affected owners may contact Bendix at 1-440-329-9000 or their vehicle manufacturer.

IF PRESSURE IS DELIVERED TO THE SERVICE BRAKE CIRCUITS, INTERMITTENT OR CONTINUED BRAKE APPLICATION MAY OCCUR WITHOUT WARNING AND POSSIBLY WITHOUT ILLUMINATING THE BRAKE LIGHTS. EITHER CONDITION MAY INCREASE THE RISK OF A CRASH.
BENDIX WILL NOTIFY OWNERS WHO PURCHASED THE AFFECTED ATR-6 TRACTION RELAY VALVES AS AFTERMARKET PARTS. VEHICLE MANUFACTURERS WILL NOTIFY THEIR OWNERS. BENDIX WILL PROVIDE A REMEDY FREE OF CHARGE. A TEMPORARY FIX IS AVAILABLE WHILE THE MANUFACTURER DEVELOPS A PERMANENT REMEDY. THE PERMANENT REMEDY HAS BEEN DEVELOPED AND PARTS WILL BEGIN TO BE AVAILABLE BY MAY 7, 2012. OWNERS MAY CONTACT BENDIX AT 1-440-329-9000 OR THEIR VEHICLE MANUFACTURER.
