What happened

International Motors, LLC is recalling certain 2010 and 2011 IC CE, HC, and BE commercial buses and International 1300, 3200, 3300, 4100, 4200, 4300, 4400, and MXT trucks manufactured between November 19, 2003 and February 9, 2010. The vehicles have a defect in the brake system where the parking brake may unexpectedly release if the vehicle's electronic control unit misinterprets signals from cycling the ignition switch multiple times at a specific frequency. This sudden release could cause the vehicle to shift position, potentially resulting in property damage, personal injury, or death.

Navistar will repair affected vehicles free of charge by reprogramming the brake system electronic control unit. The recall began on April 14, 2010. Owners of affected vehicles should contact Navistar at 1-260-461-1890 to arrange the repair.
