What happened

U.S. Bus Corporation is recalling certain 2007 school buses manufactured between November 1, 2006, and April 1, 2007. The affected models are the STHF5, STH5, and Universe buses equipped with Freedman Seating Company 33 1/2" school bus barriers (part number 15198). These barriers do not meet federal safety standards and could allow a passenger's knee to contact the rear surface of the barrier during a crash, potentially causing personal injury.

Transportation Collaborative, Inc. will notify bus owners and repair the buses at no cost. The recall was expected to begin on or about March 31, 2010. Owners of affected buses should contact Trans Tech at 1-845-988-2333.

Hazard

IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH, A PASSENGER'S KNEE MAY COME IN CONTACT WITH THE REAR SURFACE OF THE NONCOMPLIANT RESTRAINING BARRIERS, WHICH COULD RESULT IN PERSONAL INJURY TO THE OCCUPANT.

What should I do?
