Is my product affected?

Lighting chains

  • Brand A.I.&E.

Check against the official notice below — it lists the full affected range.

What happened

A.I.&E. lighting chains with model numbers XN-723 and XN-724 pose multiple electrical safety hazards. The products have wires with insufficient cross-section area that could overheat, a flashing unit cover that may break and expose live electrical parts, and a plug design that allows users to touch live pins during connection. Additionally, the socket design permits plugs to be inserted incompletely, leaving live parts accessible, and the chains lack moisture protection despite being marketed for outdoor use. These products do not comply with European electrical safety standards.

The lighting chains, which contain 192 blue or red LED lamps with an 8-function flashing switch, were subject to withdrawal from the market and recall from consumers as of June 26, 2013. Consumers who have purchased these products should follow the recall instructions, though the source does not specify what action affected consumers should take.

Hazard

null The products pose a risk of electric shock because: - The cross-section area of the external and internal wires is not sufficient and the wires could consequently overheat.- The mechanical strength of the flashing unit is not sufficient and its cover can be fragmented, resulting in accessible live parts. - The dimensions of the plug are insufficient therefore the user may touch the pin of the plug during connection.-The structure of the swinging socket outlet enables single-pole insertion of plugs and the live parts of the free remaining pin are accessible.- The decorative lighting chain is not protected against moisture, yet it is recommended for outdoor use.The products do not comply with the Low Voltage Directive and the relevant European standard EN 60598.
