Bestway's Inflatable Surf and Sun swim-ring (41 cm, model 933436012) contains prohibited phthalate chemicals in both its valve and plastic material. The valve contains DEHP and DINP phthalates, and the white transparent plastic foil with green printing also contains DEHP and DINP. Under the REACH Regulation, these phthalates are not permitted in toys, particularly in products that children can place in their mouths, such as swim-rings.

The product poses a chemical risk because:- the valve contains 0.41% by weight of bis (2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP) and 23.60% by weight of di-"isononyl" phthalate (DINP),- the white transparent plastic foil with green printing contains 0.26% by weight of bis (2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP) and 30.20% by weight of. di-"isononyl" phthalate (DINP).According to REACH Regulation, phthalates DEHP, DBP and BBP are prohibited in all toys, while phthalates DINP, DIDP and DNOP are prohibited when the toy can be placed in the mouth by children.
