What happened

Fresh Line soaps have been recalled because they resemble food items in ways that could confuse consumers, particularly children. The products are made to look like biscuits, pastries, chocolates, tarts, and cakes—complete with realistic colors, textures, and decorations like caramel sauce, chocolate chips, fruit, and glazes. This deceptive appearance creates a serious risk that consumers might place these items in their mouths or ingest them, potentially causing choking, poisoning, or internal injury.

The recall was ordered by authorities in Cyprus, and the products have been withdrawn from the market. The record does not specify what actions affected consumers should take regarding products already in their possession.

Hazard

The products pose a risk of choking and a chemical risk because, although not foodstuffs, they possess a form, colour, odour, appearance, packaging, labelling, volume and size, such that it is likely that consumers, especially children, will confuse them with foodstuffs. As a consequence, the products could be placed in the mouth or sucked or ingested, which might be dangerous and cause, for example, choking, poisoning or perforation or obstruction of the digestive tract. The products do not comply with the Directive 87/357/EEC on products which, appearing to be other than they are, endanger the health or safety of consumers.
