Opel is recalling approximately 28,307 Vivaro passenger cars worldwide, including 5,618 vehicles in Germany, from model years 2006 and 2007. The vehicles have a safety defect in which cables on the dashboard may rub against the clutch pedal holder or steering column, potentially causing electrical faults and short-circuiting that could result in fire. The affected vehicles are identified by specific VIN number ranges from manufacturing plants in Luton, Germany and Barcelona, Spain.

Opel is taking voluntary corrective action to address this issue.
