SMC aluminum light metal wheels (model WB 75016, marked with national type designation KBA 45580) have been recalled due to inadequate strength that can cause spoke fractures and wheel destruction under certain circumstances. If wheel failure occurs, the driver may lose control of the vehicle. The affected wheels are five-spoke Softline rims manufactured in 2004, identifiable by the manufacturing date code on the rear of the rim—a number (such as 04, 05, or 06) followed by a grid with dots indicating the month of manufacture.
