Is my product affected?

Lithium ion battery

  • Brand Hewlett-Packard and Compaq

Check against the official notice below — it lists the full affected range.

What happened

Hewlett-Packard and Compaq are recalling lithium ion batteries used in various notebook computers due to a fire hazard. The batteries can overheat, creating a risk of fire and burn hazard, and may cause contusions or cuts. The recalled batteries were included with specific Compaq Presario and HP Pavilion and Compaq models that were last sold around March 2008. Affected battery packs contain specific CT codes printed on a label inside the battery pack, and consumers can verify whether their battery is affected by checking this code with HP.

To determine if your battery is affected, you must remove the battery pack from your notebook computer and locate the adhesive label on its inner surface to check the CT code against the sequences listed in the recall notice. The manufacturer is voluntarily recalling these batteries from consumers. The source does not specify what remedy consumers should pursue once they identify an affected battery.
