What happened

Lighting chains sold under the brand name "JÉGCSAPÉGŐ" (CEDAR) with 160 or 200 non-replaceable miniature incandescent lamps—some with 8-function flashing units—have been recalled due to multiple electrical safety hazards. The products pose risks of electric shock because the wire insulation does not meet safety standards, the PVC wires are unsuitable for outdoor use, and the flashing units, plugs, sockets, and lamp connections are not protected against water damage. Additional concerns include insufficient insulation on light sources, undersized wire cross-sections, sharp wire inlets that can damage wires, and wires that are not secured against loosening. The products also pose a fire risk because the maximum number of connectable lighting chains is not indicated.

The affected products are model numbers 160L/4W (bar code 6901022010104), AR160 (bar code 6901022010142), and 200L/4W (bar code 6901022010203). A sales ban has been ordered by authorities in Hungary. The source does not specify what consumers should do with recalled products already in their possession.
