The CEDAR lighting chain products (models SM160XXX with 160 lamps and SM240XXX with 240 lamps) have been recalled due to serious safety hazards. The products pose risks of electric shock because the wire insulation does not meet safety requirements, the PVC wiring is unsuitable for outdoor conditions, the flashing unit and lamp holders lack water protection, the wires have insufficient cross-sectional area, the wire inlets have sharp edges that can damage wires, and the wires are not secured against loosening. Additionally, the products pose a fire risk because the power input is too high (126W instead of the required 50W) and the plastic lamp holders do not have adequate resistance to ignition. The products fail to comply with the Low Voltage Directive and the relevant safety standard EN 60598.
