Fiat is recalling certain Grande Punto and Grande Punto VAN passenger cars due to a defect in the steering column's upper section where it connects to the universal joints. The counter bore may not have been manufactured correctly, which could cause the steering function to be lost and create a risk of injury to vehicle occupants. The recall affects left-hand drive vehicles with specific chassis numbers produced at the Melfi and Mirafiori plants.
