Specialized 1st Generation Turbo Levo and Kenevo electric mountain bike battery packs
Check against the official notice below — it lists the full affected range.
Specialized Bicycle Components is recalling electric mountain bikes and battery packs due to a hazard where water can penetrate the seal around the LED control pad on lithium-ion battery packs, causing the battery to short circuit and creating fire and burn hazards. The recall affects 2016-2018 model year Turbo Levo FSR, 2018-2021 model year Turbo Levo HT, and 2018-2019 model year Turbo Kenevo FSR electric mountain bikes equipped with Specialized M1 battery packs, as well as M1 battery packs sold separately as aftermarket equipment. Affected consumers can identify recalled bikes by the model name printed on the top tube and can check specific battery part numbers and manufacture dates listed on a label accessible by removing the battery pack with a 6mm Allen key.
Consumers with recalled bikes should immediately stop using them and contact Specialized Bicycle for a free repair. The record states that consumers should not charge the recalled battery pack or expose it to wet conditions until it has been repaired by an authorized Specialized retailer. Specialized is contacting purchasers directly about the recall, and consumers can visit www.specialized.com/safety-notices for more information on how to remove the battery pack and determine if theirs is included in this recall.
