Kobalt brand 40-volt lithium ion cordless electric pole saws sold exclusively at Lowe's stores are being recalled due to a defective switch that can fail under heavy load and cause the unit to continue running after the user releases the trigger, creating a laceration hazard. The recall affects five models (item numbers 796791, 1083769, 970801, 812419, and 812424) manufactured between January 2017 and February 2019. The date code can be found printed on the side of the guide bar near the oil cap.
