What happened

Boyer is recalling six brands of sodium and potassium hydroxide products sold in two-pound clear plastic bottles because the packaging does not meet child-resistant packaging requirements under the Poison Prevention Packaging Act. The recalled products are Soap Supply Co. Lye, Soap Makers Lye, California Soap Supply, Combo Pure Solutions, Red Crown High Test Lye, and Boyer Potassium Hydroxide Flakes, commonly used for soapmaking and drain clearing. Lot numbers 4001 through 9288, found on the bottom of the jar and side of the box, are affected. The non-child-resistant packaging poses a risk of chemical burns and irritation to skin and eyes.

According to the recall, consumers should immediately store the recalled products in a safe location out of reach of children and contact Boyer for a free replacement child-resistant cap.
