Is my product affected?

Belmont four-drawer dressers

  • Brand Ridgewood Industries Inc., of Canada

Check against the official notice below — it lists the full affected range.

What happened

Ridgewood has recalled Belmont four-drawer dressers with plastic drawer glides that were sold exclusively at Kmart. The dressers can tip over if not anchored to the wall, creating a serious risk of death or injury to children. Additionally, the taller models (over 30 inches) do not meet the requirements of the voluntary U.S. industry standard ASTM F2057-14. The recall includes eight models in various sizes and colors, with model numbers and dimensions specified in the product information.

Consumers should immediately stop using any recalled dresser that is not properly anchored to a wall and keep children away from the dressers. Consumers can contact Ridgewood to receive a free anchoring kit with a wall anchor strap and can request free professional in-home installation of the wall anchor strap.

Hazard

The recalled dressers are unstable and can tip over if not anchored to the wall, posing serious tip-over and entrapment hazards that can result in death or injuries to children. Additionally, those models of dressers over 30 inches tall do not comply with the performance requirements of the U.S. voluntary industry standard (ASTM F2057-14).

What should I do?

Consumers should immediately stop using any recalled dresser that is not properly anchored to a wall and place them in an area that children cannot access. Contact Ridgewood to receive a free anchoring kit, including a wall anchor strap. Consumers can request a one-time, free in-home installation of the wall anchor strap.
