Briggs & Stratton Recalls Riding Mowers Due to Risk of Injury

Is my product affected?

Snapper, Simplicity, and Massey Ferguson riding mowers

  • Brand Briggs & Stratton Corp., of Wauwatosa, Wis.

Check against the official notice below — it lists the full affected range.

What happened

Briggs & Stratton is recalling Snapper, Simplicity, and Massey Ferguson brand riding lawn mowers because the reverse-mow option switch can malfunction and cause the mower to unintentionally mow while being driven in reverse, which poses a risk of injury to bystanders. The affected mowers were sold in red/black or orange/black color combinations and have specific model and serial number combinations listed in the recall. Consumers can identify the location of their model and serial numbers on the frame near the front tires, and mowers that have a black dot on either the equipment ID label or shipping crate label have already been repaired and are not part of this recall.

According to the recall notice, consumers should immediately stop using the affected riding mowers and contact a Briggs & Stratton dealer to schedule a free repair.
