What happened

Peg Perego is recalling its 850 Polaris Sportsman ride-on vehicles, 24-volt battery-operated toy vehicles designed for children ages 5 to 7. These silver, red and black ATV-style vehicles are for two passengers and feature four wheels, a flip-up backrest for the rear passenger, and front and rear luggage racks. A relay on the circuit board in these vehicles can fail, causing the motor to overheat and ignite, creating fire and burn hazards. The recall applies only to vehicles with specific date codes (651016, 651017, 651020, 651021, 651022, 651023, 651024, 651027, 651028, 651029, 651030, 660304, 660305, 661123, 661124, 661125, and 661130), which can be found underneath the vehicle seat.

According to the recall notice, consumers should immediately stop children from using the recalled vehicles and contact Peg Perego to receive a free replacement circuit board with installation instructions and shipping. Consumers can also access installation instructions on Peg Perego's website, and the company is contacting known customers directly.
