Cree Recalls LED T8 Lamps Due to Burn Hazard; Includes T8 Lamps Provided as Replacements in Previous Recall

What happened

Cree is recalling LED T8 Replacement Lamps because they can overheat and melt, creating a burn hazard. The recall includes lamps sold since June 2015 and free replacement lamps provided during a previous 2015 recall. The white cylindrical lamps measure 48 inches long and are used indoors to replace traditional fluorescent tubes. The affected products are marked with "Cree" and "BT848 Series Lamp" on the lamp or label, along with a product number and four-digit date code between 06/15 and 05/16.

According to the recall, consumers who have these lamps should immediately stop using them, disconnect or switch off the fixture, and remove the lamp. Consumers should place the lamp in a safe place and contact Cree to receive a full refund. Those who received a free replacement lamp from the previous 2015 recall should also stop using it and contact Cree.

This recall involves Cree LED T8 Replacement Lamps, including lamps that were provided as free replacements for a previous recall in June 2015 and new lamps sold since the recall.
