What happened

STUBAI is recalling the Tour Lite Telescope ice axe because the knife in the axe handle can detach during use, which poses a risk of laceration or impact injury to the user or people nearby. The recalled ice axes are red and black, adjustable from about 23 to 37 inches in length, and weigh approximately one pound. They feature an aluminum head that is 9 inches long and 1 inch wide, with "STUBAI" printed on the top side above the black gripper. The recall applies to axes with batch number 865 printed on the head and batch number 870 printed on the top of the shaft.

Consumers who own a recalled ice axe should immediately stop using it and contact STUBAI for instructions on how to receive a free replacement axe.
