What happened

John Deere is recalling certain Model D100 lawn tractors due to a defect in the hardware that holds the brake assembly to the transmission housing. When this hardware breaks, it can cause complete brake failure, which creates a risk of injury because the operator loses control of the tractor. The affected tractors are green with yellow seats and mower decks, and only specific serial numbers are included in this recall. Serial numbers can be found under the right rear fender, and the model number appears on both sides of the tractor's hood.

If you own an affected lawn tractor, you should stop using it immediately and contact John Deere. The company will provide a free inspection of the brake hardware and perform any necessary repairs at no cost to you.
