John Deere is recalling Gator RSX850i Base, Sport, and Trail model recreational utility vehicles manufactured between May 2012 and October 2012 due to a fire hazard. The oil filter installed by the engine supplier can develop pinholes or cracks and leak oil because the filters were not manufactured to specification. The affected vehicles have side-by-side seating for two people and were sold in various colors including Realtree Hardwoods HD Camo, olive, black, traditional green, and yellow.
Consumers who own a recalled vehicle should stop using it immediately and contact a John Deere dealer to schedule a free inspection and free repair. John Deere is directly contacting all registered owners of the affected vehicles. Consumers can identify whether their vehicle is included in the recall by checking the serial number on the rear frame above the receiver hitch against the serial number ranges provided for each model variant.

This recall involves John Deere Gator™ RSX850i Base, Sport and Trail model recreational utility vehicles manufactured between May 2012 and October 2012. They have side-by-side seating for two people and were available in Realtree® Hardwoods™ HD Camo, olive and black, or traditional green and yellow. RSX850i is located on the hood. The serial number is on the rear frame above the receiver hitch.
