Ambient Weather Expands Recall of Radios Due to Fire Hazard

What happened

Ambient Weather is recalling certain weather radios because they can overheat when plugged into an AC power outlet, creating a fire hazard. The recalled radios are red and black, approximately 8 inches wide by 4 inches tall by 2 inches deep, with "Ambient Weather," "AM/FM/Weather Band Radio," and "NOAA Weather Radio" printed in white on the front. They feature a black crank handle on the back, an antenna on top, an LED flashlight on the left side, a clip on the right side, and a cable for charging smartphones. The model numbers affected are WR-333, WR-333-A, WR-334-U, or WR-334A-U. This recall also includes radios that previously received replacement AC power adapters from an earlier recall.

Consumers who own these radios should immediately stop using them and contact Ambient Weather for a full refund.

The recalled Ambient Weather radios are red and black and measure about 8 inches wide by 4 inches tall by 2 inches deep. "Ambient Weather," "AM/FM/Weather Band Radio" and "NOAA Weather Radio" are printed in white lettering on the front of the radio. The radios have a black crank handle on the back, an antenna on the top, and LED flashlight on the left side, a clip on the right side and a cable to charge a smart phone. Accessories included an AC adapter, DC converter or solar panel charger. Model number WR-333, WR-333A, WR-334-U or WR-334A-U is printed in the owner's manual.
