KTM North America is recalling model year 2015 and 2016 KTM Freeride 250R motorcycles because fuel can escape from the tank breather assembly under extreme riding conditions, creating a fire hazard and risk of injury to the rider. The recalled motorcycles are orange and black with KTM logos on the shrouds covering the fuel tank, and have 250cc 2-cycle engines with the engine size printed on both sides of the rear fender. Model year 2015 motorcycles have the letter F in the 10th position of the vehicle identification number (VIN), while model year 2016 motorcycles have the letter G in the 10th position; the VIN is located on the right side of the steering head on both models.
Consumers who own a recalled motorcycle should immediately stop riding it and contact an authorized KTM dealer to schedule a free repair. KTM is contacting consumers who purchased the recalled product directly.
