What happened

KTM North America is recalling 13 models of KTM and Husaberg brand motorcycles because the throttle cable can malfunction during use, causing an uncontrollable throttle that poses a crash hazard to riders. The recall affects eleven 2013 KTM models (85 SX, 85 SXS, 125 SX, 150 SX, 150 XC, 200 XC-W, 250 SX, 250 XC, 250 XC-W, 300 XC, and 300 XC-W) and two Husaberg models from 2012 and 2013 (TE 250 and TE 300). The model number is printed on the rear fender below the seat, and consumers can identify their motorcycle by the KTM or Husaberg branding—KTM models are black and orange while Husaberg models are blue, yellow, and white. The model year can be confirmed by checking the 10th character of the vehicle identification number on the right side of the steering head, where "C" indicates 2012 and "D" indicates 2013.

Consumers who own a recalled motorcycle should immediately stop using it and contact a KTM or Husaberg authorized dealer to schedule a free repair.
