Avalanche rescue snow shovels
Check against the official notice below — it lists the full affected range.
Mountain Safety Research is recalling its Operator™ T, Operator™ D, and Responder™ avalanche rescue snow shovels because the lower lock button on the shaft can fail to secure the blade properly. When this happens, the shaft and blade can separate from each other, making the shovel unable to function for its intended purpose of rescuing avalanche victims. The recalled shovels are approximately 32 to 34 inches long, feature red or yellow blades with gray handles, and have "Mountain Safety Research" printed on the shaft and "MSR" printed on the blade front. These shovels can be identified by the slit on either side of the lower lock button.
According to the recall notice, consumers who own affected shovels should stop using them immediately. The record states that consumers should return the recalled shovels to the place of purchase for a full refund or send them to Mountain Safety Research for a free replacement shaft.
