Rite Aid Corp. is recalling approximately 225,000 multi-purpose, refillable butane gas lighters sold in Rite Aid stores nationwide from March 1998 to May 1998 for about $2. The lighters, identified by item number 4731589-V111, are approximately 11 inches long with a black plastic base, red plastic trim, a metal igniter shaft, and markings reading "MADE IN CHINA" and "SUPER" on a red sticker. The lighters have defective on/off switches that could allow them to be ignited even when switched to the off position and may remain lit after the ignition switch is released.
