What happened

Dorel Juvenile Group is recalling the Safety 1st SmartLight Stair Gate, model number 42111, manufactured before December 20, 2008. The hinges holding the gate in place can break, which poses a fall hazard to children if the gate is positioned at the top of the stairs. The recalled gates are white metal with gray handles and feature a motion sensor nightlight that turns on when approached.
