Check against the official notice below — it lists the full affected range.
Stanley and Solarwide Industrial are recalling certain stud sensors due to a defect that can prevent proper calibration, potentially causing the device to fail to detect AC electrical wires behind walls. This poses a shock hazard to users. The affected models are the Stanley® Stud Sensor 200 (model number 77-720) and Stanley® FatMax® Stud Sensor 400 (model number 77-730). Both models are black plastic with a wide yellow stripe down the center and have "Stanley" or "FatMax" printed on the front.
To determine if a stud sensor is included in this recall, consumers should check the date code printed on the inside of the battery cover. Sensors with date codes that do not begin with the letter "R" are affected by the recall. The model number can be found in a slide-out reference guide located in the base of the sensor's handle. Consumers with recalled stud sensors should contact Stanley to receive a free replacement sensor.
