Is my product affected?

Spektrum DX6i Radio Transmitters used with model aircraft

  • Brand Horizon Hobby Inc., of Champaign, Ill.

Check against the official notice below — it lists the full affected range.

What happened

Horizon Hobby is recalling Spektrum DX6i radio transmitters used to control model airplanes and helicopters because they can malfunction and cause aircraft to fall from the sky while in flight, potentially crashing into bystanders or property. The transmitters can also cause propellers to spin unexpectedly, which may injure people standing nearby or working on the aircraft. The recalled transmitters are identified by "Spektrum DX6i" printed on the front and include specific item numbers (SPM6600, SPM6600E, SPM66001E, SPMR6600, SPMR6600E, SPMR66001, SPMR66001E) and date codes (807E through 812E, and 901E) located on product packaging or inside the battery compartment. The transmitters were sold individually or as part of three ready-to-fly aircraft models: E-Flite Blade 400 mini helicopters, E-Flite T-34 25 ePTS airplanes, and Hangar 9 P-51 Mustang Mk II airplanes.

Consumers who own recalled transmitters should immediately stop using them and contact Horizon Hobby to arrange free shipment of the transmitters for inspection and repair.

Hazard

The defective radio transmitters can cause model airplanes and helicopters they control to fall from the sky while in flight and crash into bystanders or property. The propellers can also spin unexpectedly injuring a person standing too close or working on the aircraft. This poses impact and laceration hazards to consumers and a risk of property damage.

What should I do?

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled radio transmitters and contact Horizon Hobby to arrange to have the transmitters shipped free of charge for inspection and repair.
