What happened

Horizon Hobby is recalling Blade 500 X BNF and Blade 500 3D BNF and RTF Remote Controlled Model Helicopters with model numbers BLH 1800, BLH 1800M1, BLH 1850, and BLH 4080. These helicopters are approximately 33.5 inches long, 11.8 inches tall, and weigh about 4 pounds. The recalled models can be identified by the "500 X" or "500 3D" logos on the canopy. The hazard involves the tail rotor grip, a black plastic holder approximately 1¼ inches tall and ½ inch wide that secures the tail rotor blade to the tail rotor hub. This grip can separate and release from the helicopter during operation.

If the tail rotor grip separates, the helicopter can crash, creating a risk of injury to users or bystanders. According to the recall, consumers should immediately stop using the affected helicopters and contact Horizon Hobby to receive a replacement tail grip and installation instructions.
