What happened

American Honda Motor Co. is recalling Model Year 2008 Honda TRX500 ATVs equipped with electric power steering, also known as the Honda FourTrax Foreman 4X4 with electric power steering. These adult-size ATVs are designed for riders age 16 and older and are available in red, black, olive, white, and camouflage colors. The recalled vehicles have "Honda" and a wing logo printed on the fuel tank and "TRX500" printed on the side panel just below the seat. The electric power steering shaft on these ATVs could break unexpectedly, causing riders to lose steering control and risking serious injury or death.

Consumers who own a recalled ATV should stop using it immediately and contact any Honda ATV dealer to schedule a free repair appointment. Registered owners of the recalled ATVs have already been sent direct notices about the recall.
