LaJolla Boat Bed and Pirates of the Caribbean Twin Trundle Beds
Check against the official notice below — it lists the full affected range.
Bayside Furnishings is recalling two styles of youth beds sold at Costco: the LaJolla Boat Bed and the Pirates of the Caribbean Twin Trundle Bed. Both models feature toy chests designed as boat-shaped footboards. The LaJolla version has a hardwood top, white wood base with blue stripe, while the Pirates version has a hardwood top, wheel shape, and brown wood base with decorative carvings. The lid supports on these toy chests fail to prevent the lid from closing too quickly, which poses an entrapment and strangulation hazard to young children. A 22-month-old child died as a result of this hazard.
According to the recall notice, consumers should immediately stop children from using the recalled toy chests and contact Bayside Furnishings for instructions on receiving a free repair kit with replacement lid supports.
