Fireplace Gas Valves
Check against the official notice below — it lists the full affected range.
American Flame has recalled AF-4000 series fireplace gas valves due to a defect that allows gas to continue flowing into the pilot light area even after the fireplace switch is turned "off." This poses a fire and explosion hazard. The affected valves were installed in some residential fireplaces made by twelve manufacturers and sold under brand names including Pacific Energy, Travis Industries, CFM Corporation, Canadian Heating Products, Portland Willamette, Rasmussen, Chimeneas de Columbia, Twin Eagles, FDM, Inca Metals (Savannah Heating), Even Temp, and Valley Comfort. The recalled valves have date codes ranging from 0622 through 0718, which can be found on a label on the bottom of the gas valve.
According to the recall, consumers with affected fireplaces should immediately stop using them and contact their dealer for a free repair. A qualified service technician will test whether the valve leaks gas in the "off" position and replace it if necessary.
