Gorilla Inc. Recalls EXO-Tech Safety Harness Due to Fall Hazard

Is my product affected?

EXO-Tech Safety Harness

  • Brand Gorilla Inc., of Flushing, Mich.

Check against the official notice below — it lists the full affected range.

What happened

Gorilla Inc. is recalling the EXO-Tech Safety Harness due to a fall hazard. The waist belt's webbing is not properly routed through the lineman's loop on the front of the harness. The loops are attached to the harness only through stitching that is not designed to restrain someone during a fall. When force is applied during a fall, these loops can pull away from the harness, potentially leaving the user unrestrained and at risk of serious injury or death.

The recalled harness is a fall restraint designed for hunting use. It features two leg straps and two shoulder straps connected to a waist belt with padded back support, along with a long black tether strap at the top rear with gray and red accents. The harness is marked with "EXO-Tech" on the right front shoulder strap and "Gorilla" on the left front shoulder strap, both in white lettering. Only harnesses with manufacturing dates of 4/22/2009 or 6/26/2009 are affected, which can be verified on the white manufacturing label inside the back of the harness showing model number 45111. According to the record, consumers should immediately stop using the harness and contact Gorilla Inc. to receive a refund.

Hazard

The webbing of the waist belt on the safety harness is not routed through the lineman's loop located on the front of the harness near waist level. Since the loops are not properly anchored to the harness webbing but are attached only through stitching not intended to restrain a user during a fall, they that can pull away from the harness when force is applied, leaving the user unrestrained.

What should I do?

Consumers should immediately stop using the harness and contact Gorilla Inc. to receive a refund.
