Salomon USA Recalls Ski Bindings Due to Unexpected Release, Fall Hazard

Is my product affected?

Alpine Ski Bindings

  • Brand Salomon SAS, of France
  • Brand Salomon USA, of Ogden, Utah

Check against the official notice below — it lists the full affected range.

What happened

Salomon USA has recalled certain ski binding models because the toe component can fail to fully secure a ski boot, causing the binding to release unexpectedly. This unexpected release could cause a skier to lose control or fall and suffer injuries. The recall affects Salomon models LZ 7, LZ 8, LZ 9, LZ 7 SR, LZ 8 SR, LZ 8 SC, and J LZ 9, as well as Atomic models Evox 2.8, Evox 2.8+, Evox 2.8++, and FFG 8. Consumers can identify affected bindings by checking if the model number is displayed on the binding and if the toe component's center plate bears a production date code ending in "8."

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled ski bindings and return them to an authorized Salomon ski dealer (for Salomon-brand bindings) or an authorized Atomic ski dealer (for Atomic-brand bindings) for a free inspection and replacement of the toe component.

What should I do?

Consumers should stop using these ski bindings immediately and return the Salomon-brand ski bindings to any authorized Salomon ski dealer, or return the Atomic-brand ski bindings to any authorized Atomic ski dealer, for a free inspection and replacement of the toe component.
