Is my product affected?

Built-in Combination Wall and Microwave Oven

  • Brand GE Consumer & Industrial, of Louisville, Ky.

Check against the official notice below — it lists the full affected range.

What happened

General Electric is recalling combination microwave and conventional built-in wall ovens sold under the GE, GE Profile, and Kenmore brand names. The door switch in the microwave oven can overheat and ignite plastic components in the control area, creating a fire hazard. The lower thermal oven does not pose a hazard. The recalled units were sold in white, black, bisque, and stainless steel finishes. Consumers can identify their unit by checking the brand name on the lower left corner of the microwave door and locating the model and serial numbers on the left interior wall of the microwave oven.

Consumers with affected units should stop using the microwave oven immediately but may continue using the lower thermal oven. GE is offering either a free repair or rebates toward a new unit ($300 for GE brand or $600 for GE Profile brand). Kenmore customers should contact Transform for Kenmore branded products for a free repair or $300 rebate toward a new Kenmore unit. Consumers should contact the appropriate manufacturer—GE for GE/GE Profile units or Transform for Kenmore units—to arrange their remedy.
