Elmo USA Corp. is recalling visual presenters—devices that capture and display images on LCD panels, projectors, and TV monitors—sold under the ELMO, Epson, Doar Communications, Vtel, and Tandberg brand names. The recalled units were manufactured between December 1993 and December 2003 and contain improperly installed fluorescent top lights that can overheat and create a fire hazard. Affected ELMO model numbers include EV-500AF, EV-400AF, EV-6000AF, EV-8000AF, HV-5000XG, HV-7000SX, HV-8000SX, EV-4400AF, and HV-5100XG, while the Epson model ELPDC02 is also included.
Consumers who own a recalled visual presenter should stop using it immediately. Those with ELMO-branded units should contact Elmo USA, while Epson model owners should contact Epson directly. Consumers with recalled units will receive a free inspection and repair.
