Laars Heating Systems is recalling Laars 9600 CB Condensing Heating Boilers and Laars 9600 HWG Condensing Water Heaters with black vent pipe/tubing. The recalled models include boiler models CB 150, CB 175, and CB 200, and water heater models HWG 175 and HWG 200, all rated at 150,000 to 200,000 Btu/h. The hazard involves internal black plastic venting components that can crack and leak flue gases, including carbon monoxide, which poses a risk of carbon monoxide poisoning. The boilers are used to generate hot water for heating systems including baseboards or radiant flooring, while the water heaters generate hot water for household use such as showers, sinks, and dishwashers.

Consumers can identify affected units by looking for "Mark II" and "9600 CB" or "9600 HWG" printed on the front of the unit, with the model number and BTU size printed on the right side. The recalled units have putty and black-colored or taupe and black-colored exteriors.
