What happened

Generac Power Systems Inc. is recalling certain GTH410 and GTH220 engines used in power equipment manufactured between July 2001 and July 2005. The plastic fuel tanks in these engines can leak, and if an ignition source is present, a fire or explosion may occur. The affected equipment includes pressure washers, air compressors, and saw mills sold by Cleaning Systems Specialists Inc., Ingersoll-Rand, Silver Eagle, and Wood Mizer.

Consumers who own power equipment with a recalled engine should stop using it immediately. The engine model number can be found on a small sticker on the side of the motor above the Generac nameplate. According to the recall notice, affected consumers should contact their equipment manufacturer to schedule a free tank replacement. The equipment manufacturers' contact information is: Cleaning Systems Specialists Inc. at (619) 448-8111, Ingersoll-Rand at (800) 820-0308, Silver Eagle at (936) 264-2215, and Wood Mizer at (317) 808-0717.

Phone: (619) 448-8111 Air Compressors Ingersoll-Rand Phone: (800) 820-0308 Pressure Washers Silver Eagle Phone: (936) 264-2215 Saw Mill Wood Mizer Phone: (317) 808-0717 The recalled Generac GTH410 and GTH220 engines were manufactured from July 2001 to July 2005. GTH410 Engines model numbers with defective fuel tanks are: 0041930EHF; 0043290EHF; 0043291; 0045050EHF; 0045281; 0045283; 0046100EHF; 0046150EHF; 0046910EHF; 0046911. GTH220 Engines model numbers with defective fuel tanks are: 0040990EHC; 0043930EHC; 0045300EHC; 0046090EHC; 0046370EHC; 0046380EHC; 0046390EHC; 0046820EHC; 0047640EHC; 0048820; 0050650; 0051170. The engine model number is located on the side of the motor and contained on a small sticker above the Generac nameplate. The top number on the small sticker is the model number (e.g., 220 or 410). The larger Generac nameplate contains the Engine Identification Number and Serial Number.
